Wheels on the Bus holds a special place in my heart, being one of the first rhymes I ever sang with my preschoolers. My first job was in a pilot preschool for challenged students. OT was not a service in the 70’s so I was the sole related service provider for 36 students. Remember the days of Ella Jenkins, Hap Palmer, Raffi when we had record players? Songs and rhymes are invaluable for learning concepts, following directions, learning intention (filling in words), Children learn intonation and prosody of language. Repeating the songs help children remember the words and actions. Music with actions builds overall brain development and muscle memory as well.

I often have a purpose in mind when creating my theme-based products. I was looking over my “rhyme box” and had very old pictures for Wheels on the Bus. So time to make new ones! Then it grew into a variety of activities I think you will love! i tested these activities with students either going to a new preschool or kindergarten and will be moving on to a new SLP. I thought this theme would be perfect for back to school and I am definitely using these activities with my new students! This set has my version of the song (LOL-I often change the lyrics just a bit to target speech or language) Well….they loved it! With a few tweaks I’m sharing with you!
